regular readers of the blog will surely know by now that Silver Screen Society is one of Criterion Corner’s favorite websites / things that exist. a collective of supremely talented graphic artists who pick a film for each month and generate as many posters for it as they possibly can, their work is always exceptional. for October, they’ve turned their eyes towards two Criterion classics: The Life of Brian, and Brazil.

you can head over to SSS and see all of their posters, so far, but i’ll be posting the new stuff here as the month rolls on. and i’m starting with David Moscati’s monumental riff on Brazil, because… um… look at it.

Maybe I’m all alone in this but I’ve always loved the looks and style of the readouts in Evangelion.

I love the vintage plasma screen aesthetic these all have with the bright oranges and greens.

The bottom left readout always did it for me.

Put your ideas in a drawer. Take them out as needed.

Command the audience with your lens.

Nothing can defeat a director who is one with his actors.

Directing is not for the faint-of-heart. Or the sane.

Be an enlightened despot.
